Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?

For local shuttles –
Up to 4 riders: 48 hours prior

5-9 riders: 72 hours prior

10+ riders: 1 week prior

We may charge a $10/rider refund fee for cancellations made before the appropriate cut-off for your group size, and no refunds will be given for cancellations made after the cut-offs.

In the case of the Whole Enchilada and the Raptor Route, we will go up as far as road, trail and weather conditions allow on the day you have scheduled your ride. If you want to ride the whole thing and the weather looks like it may affect the upper sections of the trail, you will need to cancel before the 48/72/1wk cut-off or you are still responsible for the seats. We reserve the right to decide if a shuttle will be cancelled due to weather. We do not cancel shuttles due to wind or light rain/snow.

For San Juan Hut shuttles –
$150 fee if cancelled at least two weeks prior. No refunds within two weeks of your scheduled shuttle.

Grand Junction/Loma/CNY shuttles –
$75 fee if cancelled at least 72 hours prior. No refunds within 72 hours of your scheduled shuttle.

**The cancellation policies apply in every situation (changed travel plans, mechanical issues, rider mishaps, etc.) and we don’t make exceptions**

Where is your pick up location?

For scheduled shuttles our primary pick up location is at Double Down Bike Shop located at:
255 Williams Way
Moab, UT 84532

Remember to arrive 15 minutes before your shuttle is scheduled to depart, and park on the street.

For all other shuttles, we come to you!

E-Bikes!
E-Bikes remain illegal on all USFS lands and some BLM lands:
  • The Whole Enchilada Trail System
  • Eagle Eye on the Raptor Route
E-Bikes are now legal on:
E-Bikes must be Class 1 mountain bikes (no throttle, 20 mph max speed, sold as a mountain bike intended for trail usage).
  • Moab trails are rugged and not all E-Bikes are built to withstand the rigors of desert riding.
  • Unsure if your E-Bike is appropriate? Contact us with the brand and model of your E-Bike.
  • Save yourself the hassle and rent an approved E-Bike from Double Down Bike Shop at our pick-up point!

Shuttled E-Bikes carry an additional $5 charge at checkout, and must weigh 58 lbs or less (these restrictions are in consideration of the increased wear and tear on our racks, vans, and drivers’ backs).

Unsure how much your bike weighs?

Your hometown bike store or Double Down Bike Shop can weigh it for you ahead of time.

Please note: If you show up for the shuttle with an unapproved bike (class, weight, manufacturer intended use), you may be refused service without a refund.

It is your responsibility to make sure your bike is compliant. Again, if you have questions, contact us before your shuttle with the brand and model of your E-Bike.

What should I bring?
Southeast Utah is a dry climate! Carry at least 100 ounces of water per rider.
Other good things to have in your pack:
-Appropriate layers for the forecast
-Necessary tools, tubes, maps, first aid kit, etc. needed for a long day on Moab’s varied trails
-Fully charged phone
-Headlamp
Do we tip the driver?

Our drivers always appreciate a tip for their services!

There are 3 ways to tip:

1. When you book. There is an option to add a tip through our booking platform. We ensure your tip goes to your driver!

On-site:

2. Cash. It’s easy for you and your driver!

3. Venmo. Most of our drivers have a Venmo account you can scan. Don’t see a poster in the van? It’s ok to ask!

How long is the shuttle ride?

All shuttle times vary depending on location, and time of year (aka how far up the Whole Enchilada we can get!)

On average a shuttle ride is 45 minutes to an hour.

Gotta pee? Our shuttles often leave before local businesses open, so go before you drive over!

What if we have an emergency on the trail?
Porcupine Shuttle does not offer any trail rescue services.
If you find yourself in an emergency:
-Call, text or use your satellite device to reach 911
-Have one group member stay with you, and have others keep moving while they still have enough water and daylight to finish the trail. Rescue teams arrive with limited resources.
-Conserve phone battery
For more info, visit Grand County Search and Rescue, and consider contributing a donation to this vital community service.
Do you provide us with a guide?

Though our drivers love talking trail and can provide you some helpful information, we do not provide any guide services while on the trail.

Will a shuttle be at the end of the trail for us?

Nope!

Porcupine Shuttle does offer vehicle staging assistance for the Mag 7 and Navajo Rocks trail systems. Ask about this option now or when booking your shuttle.

How do you transport the bikes?

We have multiple systems to accommodate most bikes.

Bikes need to be complete (both wheels on).

We can accommodate fat bikes and Lefty forks!
